Be your own dog
You have been living seemingly rent free in some cloud providers space. That gmail address you created when you were 12.. It is time to move out, get your own place…
Be your own dog, don’t let nobody put a leash on you

To become less dependent on big tech there are a lot of small steps to take. Here are some obvious ones:
Have your own space on the web: own your own domain. Pick a domainname that won’t look to weird when reach your forties and use the domain for your emailaddress, portfolio, blog or whatever. Having your own domain gives you the freedom to move email providers, to change servers. You own the place! You can make subdomains for your sideprojects, delete them whatever.
Own your own files: You create stuff, make sure you have it. And organize it (a bit). Don’t let some party (like Google Photos/ Figma) hold your files hostage.
Keep it simple: If you create a personal website, you might not have the time (or will) to update it forever. Why not choose HTML? It won’t break. Wordpress will.
