Britney coding

I remember hearing an interview with the songwriter Richard Thompson(*). He confessed that he sometimes writes new songs on top of pop hits. Taking the hit “Hit me baby one more time” by Britney Spears and writing a new lyric. Then replacing the melody, and later changing the chords. End result: a new song.

I’m doing an experiment with AI coding, that kind of resembles this. Lets call it “Britney Coding”.

I took the fantastic iOs app Up Ahead. You can put events in it, and it will show the numbers of days left until the event. Beautifully executed simple app, really helps with the “voorpret”.

I wanted to have something like this on e/os. So I took the marketing pictures and description of the app, and let Claude code come up with the first version. Really simple version of the app, and quite similar to the original. But now I’m slowly writing a new melody on top of this app, changing the screens, slightly changes the goal of the app. Hoping to end up with something completely new.
